Plan Your School Excursion To Landsdale Farm

Bring learning to life with a hands-on farm experience at Landsdale Farm. Our school excursions give students the opportunity to explore nature, interact with animals, and discover how a working farm operates through engaging outdoor activities.

Through sensory-rich experiences — seeing, touching, listening and exploring — students build curiosity, confidence and a deeper understanding of the natural environment.

  • When you arrive, one of our friendly farmers will welcome your group and guide you to your meeting area. Students will then rotate through a range of engaging activities designed to encourage learning through experience.

    Excursion activities include:

    • Cart ride around the farm

    • 2x farmer led educational activities from the program below

    • Animal encounters in the Red Barn

    • Feeding some of our friendly farm animals

    These experiences are designed to spark curiosity, encourage hands-on learning and create memorable moments for students of all ages.

    Capacity:
    We can accommodate two classes per day (approximately 50–60 students). Students will be divided into two groups and rotate between farmer-led and teacher-led activities.

    Recommended times:
    Arrival: 10:00am
    Departure: 2:00pm

    When booking, please include:

    • Preferred arrival and departure times

    • Break schedules

    • Preferred activity order (if applicable)

    We will then provide a personalised itinerary for your visit.

    • Hats, sunscreen and water bottles

    • Enclosed shoes

    • Comfortable outdoor clothing

    Please note: school bags are left in your designated outdoor excursion area, which is accessible to the public.

    • $23.60 per child (including GST)

    There are no additional charges for teachers, education assistants, carers or parent volunteers.

Excursion Programs

    Chicken Talk

    Discover the fascinating life of chickens! Children learn about the chicken life cycle, the difference between hens and roosters, and how eggs hatch - with real chickens and chicks to observe and gently hold.

    Fur, Feathers & Farm Senses

    A hands on sensory experience exploring wool, fur, hair and feathers. Children compare textures, match materials to animals and learn how to interact safely and gently with farm animals.

    What Do Farm Animals Eat?

    Who eats hay? Who eats grain? This interactive session teaches children about farm animal diets, healthy feeding and responsible care - with supervised feeding included.

    Animal Terms & Farm Families

    Learn the special names for baby animals, males, females and groups on the farm. Through games and real life examples, children build vocabulary while meeting farm favourites.

    Worms at Work

    Explore sustainable farming and soil ecosystems through hands-on worm farm activities, including harvesting castings, making worm juice, inspecting systems and applying nutrients to gardens.

    Plant & Grow

    Learn about sustainable food production and gardening systems through hands-on activities including harvesting produce, planting seedlings, caring for gardens, propagation and exploring pollinators.

    Explore large-scale composting and soil regeneration through hands-on activities including managing compost systems, monitoring decomposition, discovering soil life and applying compost to gardens.
